Today is Day11. Every students of LOVE, have you all read your chapter today?

Today's topic " Feelings are important" has really stroke a super big impact today for me. Right before two hours i have started read this chapter, few friends with me are actually arguing or maybe more like debating about how the past life, bad memories have controlled us. Yes, those memories will change our life dramatically by changing our point of view towards many thing. So in the end, when similar situation approach our life again, we will assume that maybe this is another bad experience and make ourselves bitter in some way. When we assume that, when we FEEL not like moving forward, what is the main factor that cause us to behave this way...?Yep, the answer is already highlighted,is feeling.

I would like to first share about one phrase that impacted me a lot in Day10, "Those who make the greatest impact on this world aren't those who are the smartest, fastest, or richest; it's those who know what to do when they FEEL like giving up." Yes, this phrase is so true, but have anyone think of how percent of the people who keep trying, never give up when they FEEL has successfully making the greatest impact on this world? No matter how high is the percentage, no doubt it is not everyone. But no matter how, a person who didn't give up although at last he still failed in achieving something will eventually won the respect and impacted the small amount of people around him. Don't let your FEELING to control your life, never give up! No matter how worst is the life now, as long as you are still breathing, you are blessed! WE ARE ALL TOO BLESSED TO BE STRESSED.

Feeling is important and through Bible, we can understand that even Jesus know the important of the feeling and express it out when it is necessary. But yet, he know how to avoid feeling to control what he act, what his life going to be. It is so true that if Jesus, a fully man, fully God hasn't ignore the feeling, it shows how important the feeling is. Feeling can lead us to a good future, but most of the time feeling can lead many people towards destruction throughout the way to achieving something. Author used the example of two people, Ernest Hemmingway and Ernest Fowler to compare how they used their feeling. They both died tragically. But one was chose to let feeling took away his life, and another was chose to let feeling called him to sacrifice himself, to help more people.

In a relationship, let the feeling of LOVE flow around your life and make it a routine so that we can react LOVEly. If you don't allow love to become part of routine of life, love will be missing from the majority of the minutes in your day (from day10). And is so true that if you ignore feeling and allow feeling to overcontrol part of routine of life, love will be missing from the majority of the minutes in your day also.

FEELINGs are important, so deal with it! ^^

Hi guys and gals...
(I've seriously been using the phase way too much... ><)

How fitting that on day 3 of our 40 days of Love devotional, we talked about loving God with all our heart, that today we should talk about how feelings are important.
How fitting it is that I should be blogging on the topic of emotions.

Being a sporty person, being passionate about football (or known to yankees as soccer), I understand how emotions can sometimes overrule the head on the rectangular field. 1 split second, you could be sent off for an offence that other people who saw it would be thinking... why did he do that?

So, does this mean that we should not have any emotions or feelings in our daily lives, or what we do?
NO!

Passion, similar to fire, is a bad master, but a good servant.
True enough, that anything, when used wrongly, can have bad results.
However, when it is directed in the right direction, it can be put into good use, and have positive purposes.
I can either drive you on, or drive you head-on into a collision. =P

Did you know that Christianity, unlike Hinduism and Buddhism, allows you to be aware of your feelings?
In other religions, it is said that when you devoid yourself of all feelings, only then would you be able to reach the next level.
However, in Christianity, we are not required to do so.
We are not urged to act as if we have no feelings.
Instead, God made us this way, with feelings.

How do we know that?

We are all created in the image of God, amen?
In today's devotional, it is known that Jesus wept when his friend Lazarus died.
Jesus wept when he approached Jerusalem before .
Thus we can see that, it's ok to have emotions. It is ok to show them, and not just conceal them behind closed doors.
Other people in the bible wept as well.
At Ziglag, David wept when he found out what had happened to his people.

So... next time just show it outwardly?
Not really.
It's what you do with your emotions that count.
On Pg 105 of the book, it says that
"Jesus did not deny his emotions; he denied himself by not always bowing to those emotions."

How true is this!
Many times, we just bow to our emotions. After we wept, we feel that the whole world has let us down, We feel that our lives can't move on anymore.

We shouldn't do that!

Instead, we should live our lives, with God's promises for us.
We should live our lives knowing that God has done great things in our lives.
We cannot control the things that will happen to us. What we can control is our response.

The same thing, when used differently, can bring about different results.
So, I courage you, to be lord over your feelings.
To know to do the correct things after things happen in your life. =)

I shall leave you with this verse in closing.

Proverbs 14:30 (The Message)
A sound mind makes for a robust body, but runaway emotions corrode the bones.

Hey peeps!!

How are u guys going so far?? Doing good? Haha... Sorry for the "unswiftness" in updating the blog with more LOVES.... Just came back from MCL...*no life*... Haha...but its fun though... Anyways, personally, God has been spoken to me alot through this book... It is just so AMAZING!! :) getting excited hey!!

So today's passage is the power of new. NEW!! Who dun like new stuffs!? New shoes, new clothes, new games, new car etc... How about new commandment?? I guess people's reaction will be "har.. again ah... got a lot ady leh from old commandments, now got new one summore?? har~...". [No offence kays!! :)] But there is a difference between new and old commandments. I believe u guys have already read that in the passage. The old commandments were motivated by fear of the judgement of God would bring on those who disobeyed; whereas the new commandment is motivated by LOVE and dependence on God's power.

The old and new concept applies to our relationship as well. As what we've read before, human feeling fades. At that time, the relationship will become old. It will be more to habits and rules. Its like: "I already used to it, its my daily routine, its my daily life etc etc" kind of things. No more passion, no more motivation?? But where is the love??

Jesus' new commandment is the key to renewing love. Yup, we understand, but how?? Hmm, renew= makes thing new= get new stuffs!! HAHA, WRONG ANSWER!! Coz new stuff = old stuff after one day. But rediscover the attitude of love in the everyday habits of your life. GO BACK TO THE BASICS, THE LOVE AT THE BEGINNING OF THE RELATIONSHIP!! Always remind urself of the love that u have for people when u do the usual things for them. It will get your heart to a place where u can find strength to work on the other problems as well. This is the way to renew our relationship with our God as well. Get ur heart back to the basics and focus and love.

Well, its easy to say, but its hard to do it and apply it in our lives!! Why?? Coz human got lotsa excuses. "Don't think i have time... Got other things to do... Don't think i can do it... I am not as perfect as God (thats true)... Don't know how to do it....etc etc". To conclude, we always want to do something with "our" own strength, power. BUT Jesus will never command us to do something that He is not willing and able to empower us to do. God will always give us His power to do the things or commands He wants us to obey. We can do that by God's power!! Even if we think we can't do it, but we know God can do it, and we have God's power to do it!! So live a "I think I can't, but I know God can" life. Just rely and depend on the power and love that our Heavenly Father has given to us. Find rest in Him. :)

With muchie LOVES,
Michelle

Heya kids,

hows the week been so far? Wet and cold? I must say i was severly fooled by sunday's awesome weather that sun would soon be upon us. Yet take heart friends, even though the temptation is there to complain of such torrid weather, refrain refrain refrain and love the weather for what it is.

Anyways, i hope everyone has been learning and getting heaps from the readings from 40 days, and the blog posts both on our website, and on the zone blog www.passionatuwa.blogspot.com
Frankly, everytime ive made a decision to "try" to love, i have to remind myself instead to focus on my relationship with Jesus for the impossible. That is to love out of my own human effort.

So of course, as most of you would have heard, this thursday we're planning to go to the royal show. Yes it looks wet, yes it is overpriced, and yes we have assignments ( i have 3 more yikes!) but what better day to spend a thursday night by watching fireworks, paying for overpriced food and smelling animal manure in the nearby paddocks. The plan is as such, if you guys are keen, we shall probably meet at 5 at the stirling hwy bus stop at the end of fairway on the side of the university and bus down to claremont where wonders await us.

And now for a very important thing close to my heart. This friday, we will have having thai food night. So far, this is what people are bringing
1) Green curry - rebekah
2) Tom Yum - Chu xuan
3) Pineapple rice - ming zhang
4) Some noodle dish - evon
5) seafood - nathan
6) Drinks - michelle

So there is still heaps to be brought my friends. For maximum fellowship, filled tummies and the joy of having contributed to the food smorgasboard, bring a dish and lets celebrate day whatever it is of 40 days of love. I think its 13.

Till Friday, or thursday if you come
Cheers,
Jems

The key thing that I've gotten out from today's passage is that Love is not merely an emotion but a command. It definitely feels nice to feel love and feel love towards others but we must remember that feeling doesn't last forever. So when this feeling of love stops what should we do ?

I believe you all have gotten the answer already. The answer is to continue loving. To love by choice and to love by action.

Well what do I mean by that? Well if your best friend suddenly gives you a slap in the face. I am sure to say we'll see every emotion of love in you drain away instantly. So what would be our response after that? Slap them back? Shout at them? Walk away? Continue Loving? Not an easy choice right. No one ever said it would be easy. This is why we need God's love and the Holy Spirit in our lives.

To remain strong in His word will definitely mold our character and by His power alone are we able to make that decision of loving others in the most difficult of situations.

Ok, in another situation how can you start loving that annoying person bugging you all day long. Pretty similar answer, start loving them through your actions. Simple way, try being nice to that person. Treat that person coffee or lunch. By listening to Jesus' command and start loving the person things will definitely change. By placing actions first it will definitely change our hearts.

Hope this helps you guys. =P

Heya lovelies,

man ive just eaten 2 huge porterhouse steaks and am i stuffed. I loved every minute of it though even though i feel sick now. Would i do it again? i think i would, thats how much i love steak.

And there i go again, misuing the word love.

Honestly, over the last few days of Love education, ive realised that its really really hard to love as said in the bible. Not by my own crappy standards of love which i devote to a delicious cooked part of a cow, but love as stated by God. 1 Corinthians 13 states it clearly indeed. Do i tick all of the boxes?
Heck no! i fall short all time. Lets not even talk about loving my neighbour, i find it hard to love my family and my other close ones in the way God loves me. I try and try and honestly, ive been trying real hard since like forever, but there are times where its just too hard.

You know the think i really got out of today was that it sorta hit me was Jesus doesnt want to discourage us by telling us how impossible it is to love "as i have loved you", but so that we can find the power in him to do so. Stop trying? easier said than done mate. I mean, it contradicts the whole lets me more loving but lets stop trying? That messes with my mind. Geez, Corporate Finance anyone?

So Ive decided, Ima trust in him. Its truly impossible to love like Jesus. And only today did it really really hit me, its impossible to love like him all the time. Pastor Patrick said it, no one on Earth has ever loved unconditionally "all the time". Only Jesus. Then i started thinking of the verses which say Jesus has given us his spirit, and so on and so forth. So only Jesus has loved the way we are suppose to love, totally unconditionally right? And so its impossible for men.
But Praise the Lord, we have Christ in us so we can love God, love our neighbors, and love our fellow christians. Im pretty sure many of us have got a heck lot of more from today's sharing, perhaps something even deeper but for me, the bottom line is this, Christ in Me is able to be patient, Christ in me is able to be kind, Christ in me will not be jealous...
(I actually saw this on Jacq's door haha)

Friends, let keep each other accountable, to not fall short of his grace, that is, to not ever try on our own strength to reach this heights of love, but "try" to seek him and let him live through us instead. In my "impossible" relationships where i cannot try as i might to love, im going to trust in him to make it possible.

In His Love,:)
Jems

Thanks Johnson for the awesome testimonial yesterday, today is my turn to share with you guys about DAY5, LOVE GOD WITH ALL YOUR MIND AND STRENGTH. Frankly speaking, I am really lost in my assignment world and the pressure make me can’t even breathe like normal pace… The only one thing that can let me find myself is Him. One day before DAY 5, I have actually started reading the passage that I going to share. That time, what the passage said make a deep powerful punch to my heart… -______-“ OUCHHHhh…. That’s what I haven’t done yet!! I haven’t cleared my mind while I was reading. Thousands of equations have been flying around my brain.

Finally, in a very quiet library, in such a late 7pm time, I start to share with you what I have learnt in DAY5.

MINDS

1) First challenge, memorizing Philippians 4:8 without reading bible or 40 days of love!

( aha…yes is you!! Yup, is talking about you, don't try to open your bible or book now…. -_-“ )

2) When we can memorize it, now we understanding it. Just like young times, we study theory before we go to practice.

3) Mind is a bridge between heart, soul and Strength. When sometime, you understand deep inside your heart and soul that you have to do something, your mind just stop you from doing that. So, remember the 8 key points to reMIND us always, whatever can stop processing when it reach MIND process, but tell your mind to keep processing if anything is relevant to this 8 key points.

4) Heart -> Soul -> Mind -> Strength

5) Come’ on, you are almost there to build a strong relationship with our perfect papa God!!

STRENGTH

1) “My heart and my soul, I give you control, consuming from the inside out lord… “

Bear in mind, when our daddy God have control our heart and our soul, DO something!!

2) Remember whenever you feel you can’t do something, you’re doing it with God.

a) Papa God is the best!! He can do everything.

b) Papa God LOVES us, He teach you and give the strength to achieve something big!

c) With papa God, he will guide and motivate us when we feel lack of strength throughout the process to achieve something big!

3) This is the MOST important point today,

JUST DO IT!!

Hey guys, hope you guys have gained new insights into love through other people's eyes. =)
By now, you would have realised that love means a different thing to each individual. =P
Isn't it wonderful to see that we are all reading the same text, but the things that we get out of it is oh-so-different? =)

After yesterday's reading on Love God with All Your Heart, I thought it's good that today's reading is on Love God with All Your Soul.
Of the 4 things mentioned in previous day, namely heart, soul, mind, and strength, soul is the only component where you can't pinpoint a part of the body for.

Don't believe me?
Heart -> Heart
Mind -> Brain (Head)
Strength -> Muscles (People normally point to their biceps. =P )

But what about soul?
If you point to your heart, what about heart? If you point to your brain, what about mind?

There is just no one way to pin-point where the soul is, but know that, as Pastor Holladay has mentioned, our passion and desires. It is the personality that God has given you. It is also your will to decide, to determine your direction in life. Basically, it's LIFE! =)

During Pastor Patrick's God is Love sermon, he mentioned that Love is a choice. It is an action, not an emotion.
With the soul that God gave us, it is actually our choice whether we want to love our God back or not. Bear in mind that this is a God who can do anything. He called the universe to be, and created us. He could have easily created us to become robots, but He didn't.
Do you choose to love God today? =)

In order to love God properly, there are a few ways that have been mentioned.
I shall attempt to put it into today's terms so that you can relate better to it. =)

1. Seek Him Passionately
You know that girl/boy you've been eyeing for a while? The first name in your MSN that you always check to see if she/he is online or not, and possibly attempt to start a conversation? The one whose updates you always check facebook for?
Suppose God has facebook and MSN, do you think you would check if God is online and talk to Him? Would you go to God's profile and check if He has any new updates?

If answered yes, good on you! =)
Do know that if God is on MSN, he'll probably be on it 24/7 so that you can talk to Him anytime you want. =P
If He's on facebook, He'll probably have endless people writing on His wall, because everyday is a testimonial. Every moment is a testimony waiting to be shared with the world, by people who have chosen to have a relationship with him. =)

2. Love Him Personally
You know how people like to receive handmade gifts? How it's not about the cost of the object, but the thought that counts?
If I were to receive a sports car(example only... =X) every day, would I still think it's valuable?
But if I receive like a different card, or greeting, or maybe even just a simple text to check up on my well-being everyday, do you think I would feel more loved instead?
Guess what?
So does God! =P

Our God also wants us to love Him personally.
Just because someone else is doing it, doesn't mean you have to do it?
Will you jump off a bridge just because everyone else is doing it? =P

Just as God has created every single one of us to be unique individuals, and has given us different gifts, He also wants us to love Him back personally.
We don't all have to give thanks to God via the same way.
We can all love God in our individual unique way. =)

3. Decide to Do What He Wants You to Do
Ok, here's the tough part.
You know how your other half, even parents sometimes, request something from you, and they end it with "You would do it if you love me."?
God doesn't demand that you do the same, but instead, He has given you a choice to decide.

Despite knowing that our God is a almighty God, who knows everything, and He has plans not to harm us, but for us to prosper (Jeremiah 29:11), sometimes, it's just hard.
However, just as we chose to trust our parents when they pushed us downhill on a bicycle so that we will learn how to cycle, we have to learn to trust God more with each passing day. =)
If we allow Him to guide us with His knowledge and wisdom about what's going to happen in this lifetime, we will all be destined for greatness, and prosperity. =)

I've always thought the Parable of the Lost Sheep, Parable of the Lost Coin, and the Parable of the Lost Son was only talking about the people who have back-slided in their walk with God. But through the book, it has also taught me an important lesson through the shepherd, woman who lost the coin, and the father. Their passion to find that one thing. How they rejoiced when what was once lost, was found.

Once we have made the choice and seek God (with all our heart), He promises that He will be found by us, and He will bring us back from captivity. (Jeremiah 29: 13-14)

If we can seek God with all our soul, with the passion and desire to find God, seek after His heart for this world, and apply it into our everyday lives, I believe that is the day where we have really made the decision to love God.

So...

What is your decision today? =)

Hi Kids!! :)

How's ur journey with God in these few days of Love so far?? God has really been speaking to me through the book... although now its only the third day of 40 days of Love, it really spoke alot to me aye.... :) I believe that He is doing amazing work in us through these 40 days of love right?

Well today's passage is on Love God with ALL your heart. Your heart is where you feel. This is so true that all our emotions and feelings come from our heart. Pastor Tom Holladay actually gave us some practical tips to love God with all our heart, which is Talk to God out loud and with Emotion.

As Christian, we have the privilege to be children of God and we have the privilege to call God our Heavenly Father. Yup, God is indeed our Father. He created us, He had us in mind even before everything is formed, He had plans for us, and the most important fact is HE LOVES US. Just as how our earthly dad loves us, His love for us is much more deeper and stronger!!

So how to show our love to our Heavenly Father?? For me, whenever I go back to Kuching (my home), I always spend time talking to my dad. We talked about my life here, my struggles, my happiness, my feelings and sometimes talked about crap as well. HAHA... Although most of the time its me talking, my dad will never walked away. But in fact he is very happy whenever we have those kind of "daddy-daughter" talk. Because this is the time when I really talk to him from my heart and with emotions (I think he feels loved??).

Same to our Heavenly Father God as well, I believe that God will be pleased if we just opened up our heart to Him and just tell Him our feelings, struggles, emotions and so forth in our prayer to Him. In fact, prayer doesn't need to be so formal, logic, and biblical. In our quiet time, we can just talk to Him as how we talk to our parents and friends, just talk to Him with emotions and feelings to Him. So kids, we should start challenging ourselves to really think about it and do it for our God who wants us to draw closer to Him in Love and relationships. :)

Lotsa Love,
Michelle

Hi Children of God (Love)

Sorry for being so late with my post today. Had a difficult time reading today's passage as my England very bad. Not to worry kids my post will be short simple and sweet as not to bore you all.

Well for today's passage, which I believe most of you have already read is about us placing the lesser things above what is truely important in our lives.

I truly believe that this passage is very significant in most of our lives as we do place things at times before God. The more common of these things as stated in the passage are money and tasks.

Have a great example for this part which just happened to me a second ago. While writting the 3rd paragraph of this my housemate came to me telling me there was no hot water and yea it's true feeling the problem first hand. For me placing the task of resolving that problem became a distraction to my much more important task of writting this. (Real Sorry) But I then did help my housemate placing importance in my relationship with him. So it might be a good thing.

The part that I really like in the passage is when it says:
'God does not demand of me that I accomplish great things. He does demand of me that I strive for excellence in my relationships.'

This really shows how much God values our relationship with Him. Like in our cell vision, we have that privilege to directly speak to our God. And I assure you He will definitely answer you. For me, I've gotten many of my answers by randomly opening the bible to a passage. (Do try it)

To end this I would like you all to read this short story which some of you might already know. It is about a mayo jar and two cups of coffee. It really does show an interesting story which sums up todays passage. Enjoys...

Hello fellow kids,

What a crazy weekend huh? Crazy weather, crazy Raya food, awesome day of a SFAS ending with 40 days of Love start today. I hope everyone is recovering from the "hangover".

Anyways, as mentioned in cell, we will be doing the 40 days of love Relationship Principles of Jesus Book together. As such, we will be blogging daily about our own personal thoughts and overview of the day's readings. I do hope that you guys will read it haha.

So today, Pastor Tom Holladay spoke about the importance of relationships. I.e, we should value relationships higher than everything else in our life.
One thing that really caught my attention is that the principles taught in this book are fairly simple and at some point in our life, we have thought about it. its constant reminder now for us.

But anyways, going back to the main thing i got out from this chapter is think about my own relationships. Honestly, ive felt that this semester, with uni and everything else, i have neglected the important people in my life. Like Pastor Joyce said, we can take them for granted cause we think they always be around.
And like, it just made me think even more how i want to spend quality time with my family especially, cause usually its your closest relations that you take for granted the most.
One way which ive missed and always found to be really good to build bonds and relationships is to just simply talk. Hang out, BBT or coffee in hand, Teh botol for me and just talk. Its so cheap, simple and yet i miss that cause it brought me so much Joy.

Friends, i encourage us today to start building relationships, start valuing relationships. When all is said and done, relationships do keep us going. With God, Im going to start worshiping more in my private time cause i really want to build this.
And with people, im going to start being more real. Whats that mean? im not entirely sure but one thing i know for sure is that i dont want to be so caught up till i end up relationship skimming.
Also, Cell is so awesome isnt it? and what makes it awesome is us. the kids! Lets start putting whatever percieved differences we have aside, and start building up bonds. I know we will :)

Till 2moro,
Love
Jem

This friday, we will be having Malay food night. The venue of cell is still yet to be confirmed due to lack of housing locations haha.
But do not fear, soon, we will find a place.
I wish i knew how to put photos of yummy malay food up but basically, just cook something malay.
Nasi padang style so curries, chilli stuff, all that jazz would be good.
If anyone knows how to, coconut rice or briyani would be awesome. Im going to try my hand at making an authentic malay style curry. Not the chinese style please.

Anyways, Cell is going to be at 600pm 2moro so we will have worship and prayer and sharing and then we shall cook together again. I know we all love that.

Good day to one and all.

If going through many years of spring has taught me anything, its that Spring is indeed the season of love. Couples renew marriage vows, wedding invites come our way and boyfriends shower their girlfriends with flowers, chocolates and the occasional tiffany's bracelet.

Here at Cell headquarters, we gearing up for the event of the season. Yes, its 40 days of Love.
Sounds interesting? Ok maybe gimmicky. Lets lay it down for you.
For the next 40 days, and fridays at cell, we will be basing our study on the series of 40 days of Love with an activity book and DVD sessions every week. Now love is an awesome thing. We love to be loved. Things we love make us happy. So imagine, 40 days of happyness, of joy of awesomeness. Lets get excited. As stated last week, its 15 dollars per book, which for a huge book is such a bargain. I encourage all of you to get one.
Chu Xuan will be in charge of collecting money for that.

Beach Outing:
Yes friends, Thursday promises to be a bright and sunny day. Before we know it, it will be summer, so lets head down to Cottesloe for some sand, surf and tanning lotion.
Details are as follows:
Meeting Time: 10am Thursday
Location: Cottlesloe beach next to Blue duck restuarant. ( breaky anyone?)
Things to bring: Bathers, swim gear, beach balls, beach chairs, suntan lotion, sunblock, sunnies, and of course, FOOD!

Dear friends, i am very excited about this. Feel free to invite anyone else whom you think might be interested in coming. I assure you that its going to be awesome. We will be bodyboarding most hopefully if waves are good.

So heres JT saying good day to one and all. Enjoy your mid term break and ill see you on Thursday.

Have you ever been just sitting there and all of a sudden you feel like doing something nice for someone you care for?

THAT'S GOD talking to you through the Holy Spirit.

Have you ever been down and out and nobody seems to be around for you to talk to?

THAT'S GOD wanting you to talk to Him.

Have you ever received something wonderful that you didn't even ask for, like money in the mail, a debt that had mysteriously been cleared, or a coupon to a department store where you had just seen something you needed, but couldn't afford?

THAT'S GOD knowing the desires of your heart.

Have you ever been in a situation and you had no clue how it was going to get better, how the hurting would stop, how the pain would ease, but now you look back on it.. ...

THAT'S GOD passing us through tribulation to see a brighter day.
