Heya cellies,

Hoped everyone is having a restful sunday. Or at least getting out of the house to enjoy the beautiful weather. Why not do your QT outdoors today :)

So Communication. Why is it most of us find it so hard? Honestly, most of us think we are brilliant communicators delivering great lines or great ideas with wit and charm. But reading today's chapter, i realise the truth of a great communicator, exactly that, someone who is truthful, who is honest, who speaks from the heart.

You see the awesome thing is that for the last few days, all these practical skills and principles we have been learning has been based on the life, the words of Jesus.
Its really all about Jesus. Christ in us, that will enable us to live lives of love, to communicate with love.

So lets take a look at the key verse. "Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing" Proverbs 12:18.
This verse has literally spoken to me countless times. I confess that i struggle with this problem of reckless words. People have told me this, and ive realise it too from the prompting of the spirit. Most of the time, i do not think before i speak, or i "joke" to the point where the words can be so hurtful. Yet we know that words can cause wounds, wounds that are unseen. I mean, honestly, just thinking about it, when i take a walk down my past, i realise alot of the memories of pain and rejection have come about because of hurtful words. Why do i find it so easy to be hurtful with my words? Because ive been hurt too, because i too have felt rejection.
Yet i know that as God heals these wounds, the words i start speaking will show too.
How do we tame the tongue? Its full of restless evil. Isaiah confessed before the Lord that he was a man of unclean lips, among people of unclean lips. Yet a hot coal was put to his mouth and his iniquity was no more. Friends, only God can purge our "unclean lips" and i believe what we say with our words show the state of our heart. Lets fix our eyes on Jesus as he transforms us. Lets accept our new heart from him. Let's receive his healing.

The tongue of the wise brings healing. This is the other side of the coin. Again, we see the power of words. IT brings about healing. So who are the wise? From my understanding of the word, the wise are people who know the will of God, who know right and wrong and choose to follow the right, who choose to obey, who give regard to God's ways. Let us all strive to be wise and speak words of edification, of encouragement to "heal" the wounds of people around us.

Love,
Jems
